Dr. Dre has rather modestly declared himself the "first billionare in hip-hop" as it was announced that Apple are in talks to buy his iconic Beats brand.
In a video posted to the rapper's Facebook page on Friday 9 May, he is witnessed celebrating and discussing the deal with singer Tyrese. He declares: "The first billionaire in hip-hop, right here from the mother-fucking West Coast, believe it!". Tyrese then adds: "The Forbes list just changed".
The video has since been removed but talks regarding the merger are ongoing. This is all despite the fact that Beats headphones are hugely expensive and, if we're being honest, not very good.
Prior to the deal with Apple Dre is said to be worth $450m according to a rappers rich list published by Forbes Magazine. It places him second to Puff Daddy who sits atop a $700m fortune.
