Macklemore is facing criticism after wearing a costume that appeared to be anti-semitic at a recent live show. See below.
The rapper has come under fire for wearing a prosthetic nose and a curly black haired wig, reflecting images found in anti Jewish propaganda. Matters also haven't been helped by the fact that the song is also about holding on to your pennies by shopping at a thrift store - seemingly re-enforcing stereotypes about the Jewish community.
Putting a show on for >Spectacle: The Music Video at Seattle’s Experience Music Project Museum, the idea was for him to show up in disguise. It just appears that the disguise was rather poorly chosen, appearing to be yet another embarrassing mishap for the rapper. See a photo of the rapper in costume - as shared on Twitter by Hollywood actor, Seth Rogen.
.@macklemore, first you trick people into thinking you're a rapper, now you trick them into thinking you're Jewish? pic.twitter.com/3rtaE4GHje

Macklemore has since responded, stating that he didn't mean to stereotype anyone, implying that if any offense was taken it was inadvertent.
A fake witches nose, wig, and beard = random costume. Not my idea of a stereotype of anybody.
