James Hetfield is set to headline Glastonbury this month as part of Metallica, but he seriously needs to sort out his hobbies. The rock icon has been confirmed as the narrator of a new US TV series about bear hunting. Not cool.
Hetfield will narrate History Channel show The Hunt, which will premiere on US screens on 8 June 2014, and will focus on a group off hunters in Alaska killing Kodiak brown bear. Hetfield is known as a hunter himself.
Metallica will headline the Saturday night of Glastonbury 2014, while Arcade Fire and Kasabian will top the bill on Friday night and Sunday night respectively. Their interests in blood sport are unknown.
2013 headliner Mick Jagger, who topped the Saturday night line-up in 2013 with The Rolling Stones, has spoken of his admiration for Metallica, backing their booking, telling The Sun newspaper recently: "I've seen them live and they're going to be great." He added that his band had a "great time" headlining the event."
Mogwai, on the other hand, aren't so impress, labelling Metallica 'shite' in a recent interview with Gigwise.
"I can't wait to hear that guy play the drums again - unbelievably bad," said Barry Burns of the band. "He's terrible."
When put to the band why Metallica's booking had proven controversial, drummer Martin Bulloch added: "Because they're shite."
