Alex Turner has given some insight into the progress of new material, revealing that Arctic Monkeys are 'in no rush' to release the follow-up AM.
The record-breaking, Mercury-nominated 2013 LP became the band's most successful to date - culminating in two massive shows at London's Finsbury Park last month.
Now, in a new interview with NME, frontman Turner has said that it could be quite a while until they release their sixth album.
"I've written a few things, but I'm not in a hurry," he said. "We're going to keep going [with touring] until the summer and beyond that a little bit, maybe. I don't know. I wouldn't think it'll be too soon that we do the next one."
Explaining why they're taking this time on their next record, Turner explained that it was partly to do with their explosion of popularity in America.
"It's been going really well in America and there's still lots of shit still to do on this album," he said. "I don't feel, for once, that we need to rush and get on to the next thing. It seems like a good place to leave it for a minute."
Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys next UK gigs will see them headline Reading & Leeds festival as well as T In The Park this summer. For more information visit Gigwise tickets.
