Enigmatic soul singer D'Angelo's third album is one of the most long-awaited releases in music - and his manager, Kevin Liles, has now promised it will be released in 2014.
The follow-up to the neo-soul singer's 2000 LP Voodoo was first announced in 2007, but failed to materialise. When D'Angelo resurfaced in 2011 and toured for the first time in a decade, even airing four brand new tracks, it seemed promising. But despite assurances from the likes of ?uestlove, it was still never released.
However, depending on whether you're a pessimist or an optimist, the mysterious record WILL be released in 2014. Speaking to Billboard, D'Angelo's manager Kevin Liles confirmed it will be coming this year - and "sooner rather than later".

Liles even described how the record was sounding. "To limit it to soul is not the case, because there is a rock influence. But at the same time, it's very melodic and there's an influence of all the things he loves: there's James Brown, there's Prince, and everything people grew up loving D'Angelo for, from 'Brown Sugar' to 'Voodoo.'," he explained.
"It's a mixture and an evolution of where he is right now. And you have to think that when you have the opportunity to work 10 years on an album, that album's truly gonna be what you want it to be. Is it limited to the kind of sound that he did with the earlier records? No, it's not."
Liles also revealed D'Angelo will set off on an international tour in October. But it's best to take all of this news with a giant pinch of salt...
