Elbow frontman Guy Garvey has spoken of the band's desire to one day headline Glastonbury, saying that he's 'sure' they will reach the 'pinnacle' of their career on the Pyramid Stage.
The Mercury-winning band won hearts and acclaim with their last appearance at the festival in 2011 - with many fans and critics arguing that they should have headlined instead of U2.
This year, the band will take to the Pyramid Stage before Arcade Fire on Friday - but have ambitions on eventually topping the bill.
"I'm sure we will one day," frontman Guy Garvey told Gigwise, when asked if they'd like to headline. "Retrospectively, perhaps - when I find out that I've got some kind of life-threatening illness or Peter Kay covers one of our hits and gets it to No.1.
"Of course, we'd absolutely love to. It's every band in the UK's dream as it's consistently the best party in the UK - year on year. The headline slot on the Pyramid Stage is the absolute pinnacle of a band's career in the UK."
He added: "The beating heart of that festival is the attitude of the people who put it on in the first place, and Michael Eavis is such a loving and big-hearted, kind, jolly man, and that's the attitude that you get from anyone the second you arrive at the gates."
