There is no part of The Glastonbury Festival site right now that isn’t a complete mudbath, with Worthy Farm hit hard by the adverse weather conditions of yesterday.
The first official day of the festival saw rain and electrical storms batter the festival site throughout the afternoon and into the early evening, with the latter posing such a safety risk that power had to be cut on The Pyramid Stage during Rudimental’s performance, prompting delays across the main stages.
Thankfully everything got back on track and the apocalyptic weather ceased in time for Arcade Fire’s headline slot, who were preceded by Elbow and a controversial set from Lily Allen.
Unsurprisingly though, the ground across the site remains slippery and dangerous under foot, with wellies becoming a necessity for festivalgoers and no sign of the mud drying up before the festival ends tomorrow (Sunday, June 29th).
As BBC Weather reports, rain looks set to hit the site again throughout the afternoon, with sets from Lana Del Rey, Kelis and Jack White no doubt in jeopardy and subject to delays if yesterdays events are anything to go by, however Metallica’s opinion-dividing headline performance tonight should remain precipitation-free.
Stay tuned to Gigwise for updates from The Glastonbury Festival site across the weekend.
