The Libertines played their first gig in four years in Glasgow last night (28 June), which served as a warm-up to their forthcoming Hyde Park show.

The gig was the first of two nights at Glasgow Barrowlands ahead of the band's headlining performance at British Summertime festival in Hyde Park on 5 July.

It was something of an epic warm-up - the band played 24 songs during their set, which opened with 'Horrorshow', much to the delight of the packed crowd.

"Well we're a band from England, we're called The Libertines," Pete Doherty told the crowd, according to NME's report, "We played up here years ago - I don't think many of you were born to be honest." That wasn't quite accurate, as it would make the average age of the crowd nine, which seems unlikely.

It wasn't all smooth sailing - they had to restart 'Time For Heroes' after they "fucked it up", but the set in general went down incredibly well with the crowd, many of whom had been waiting ten years for the band to return to Glasgow.

The Libertines play Glasgow Barrowlands again tonight (if you have a Libertines tattoo, incidentally, you can watch the soundcheck for free), before taking to Hyde Park on 5 July. For more information, visit Gigwise Tickets.
