A spokesperson for Dolly Parton has hit back at claims the country superstar mimed her set at Glastonbury, during one of the busiest shows of the entire festival.
The good people of the internet, led by ball-busting Sky News anchor Kay Burley, were quick to accuse the 68-year-old superstar of failing to sing live during her Sunday show, which has since been strongly denied by Parton's rep.
"She sings live. Some people don't know an amazing singer when they hear one," said the spokesperson in a statement to The Sunday Mirror.
Burley, who has a reputation for tactless TV questioning and is famed for her impersonal presenting, led the barrage as she tweeted: "Oh, Dolly is miming. How disappointing."
Dolly. Not giving a single f**k about what people on Twitter said about her show
Support for the '9 To 5' icon came from Stephen Fry, however, who claimed any televised kinks in sound footage were due to vocal filters and post-production for broadcast.
"I think I know quite a lot about how TV is made. Why are people saying @DollyParton is miming? She's fooling me," Fry tweets. "Believe me, that is not miming. If it appears not always to lip-sync that's an HD live processor issue. You see it with news reporters."
