Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has spoken out about his working relationship with Arctic Monkeys, saying that he played no part in making the band sound 'weirder'.
Homme co-produced the Sheffield rockers' third album Humbug, and also contributed backing vocals to their latest LP, AM. Alex Turner also sang on Queens Of The Stone Age's 2013 record, Like Clockwork. In turn, QOTSA covered Arctic Monkeys' 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High' on a recent BBC Radio One Live Lounge.
Now, in a new interview with BBC 6 Music's Matt Everitt for his upcoming 'The First Time' radio special, Homme has paid tribute to the band and their progression.
"I think there's a misconception that I slowed them down or weirded them out when we worked together," said Homme. "They've been playing this dangerous game of changing on every record, reaching like a rock climber for their next grip. I just love them as people."
The First Time with Josh Homme will be broadcast at 1pm on Sunday 13 July on BBC 6 Music.
