Coldplay have donated £10,000 to the Just Giving page of a fan with motor neurone disease, after dedicating a song to him at one of their shows.
Jody Duff attended the band's show without knowing that a friend had written to tell them about his struggle with the illness.
Coldplay read the letter, and invited Duff back to their London show the next night, when they invited him backstage and dedicated 'Fix You' to him. Lead singer Chris Martin told the crowd, "We just want to send him, from us and from all of you, as much love as we possibly can."

Duff told The Mirror that he was "stunned" to discover that the band had also donated £10,000 to his Just Giving page, which has now raised over £20,000. "Chris was genuinely interested in learning about motor neurone disease", he said.
Duff's fundraising page says, "MND can affect any adult/any age. I'm doing this for Motor Neurone Disease Association because MNDA & MND research is NOT government funded!!!."
