The Strokes set to start work on new music early next year

Julian Casablancas has revealed that The Strokes are planning on meeting up to write new material early next year.

As NME reports, the singer appeared on BBC 6 Music this week, where he discussed the follow-up to 2013's Comedown Machine.

He told the breakfast show: "In January we might meet up and work on some ideas. Everyone is psyched. Everything is in a really cool place."

The band played their first shows since 2011 this summer, of which Casablancas said: "It was really cool and we played some shows and the vibe is finally... I don't know if we ever had that good a working friendship foundation [in our] work relationship, but now we finally have that. We'll always have the creative vibe."

Meanwhile, Casablancas is set to release his second solo album, Tyranny, in October, whicch features singles 'Human Sadness' and 'Where No Eagles Fly'.
