Foo Fighters paid tribute to the late Gwar frontman Dave Brockie, AKA Oderus Urungus, at their crowdfunded Virginia gig this week.

The band were playing in Richmond after thousands of fans bought hypothetical tickets to the gig in the hopes that Foo Fighters would make it a reality. Thankfully, they did, and on 17 September they played a 23-song set at The National.

During their set, Grohl discussed Gwar's Dave Brockie, who died of a heroin overdose in March this year. He told the crowd, "One of the greatest compliments, or non-compliments, that I have ever gotten in my life, I remember seeing this interview with Dave Brockie where they asked Brockie about a Grammy nomination, and somehow he made his way to me, and he said, 'Dave Grohl, he's actually had his teeth removed so he could fit more Grammy dicks in his fucking mouth.'

"So, right now, I give it up to Brockie," he concluded, as Rolling Stone reports. "He would fucking hate that I dedicated a fucking song to him."

Meanwhile, Gwar have just revealed that their new lead singer is Vulvatron, the alter-ego of musician and artist Kim Dylla.
