David Bowie's long-time producer Tony Visconti has revealed that a new album of original music is going to be released "soon."
Bowie released The Next Day, his first new album in a decade, last year with no warning. It was subsequently nominated for the Mercury Prize, a Grammy and a BRIT. Earlier this month, the singer also revealed plans for a greatest hits album which will feature one new song, 'Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)'.
Now, according to CNN, producer Visconti has revealed that it's not just a greatest hits LP that's in the works: "There's gonna be another album, definitely... soon."
As for the possibility of touring, he added: "I don't think he's gonna busk in the tube... on the underground. As far as a concert is concerned I have no idea. He clearly didn't promote The Next Day with a concert and whether he does for the next one I don't know and I couldn't predict that - it's up to him. It's whatever takes his fancy."
News of the album comes amidst rumours that The Next Day would be Bowie's final album of new material. "There were all kinds of rumours flying around and he wasn't upset that people thought he was in ill health," said Visconti. "He said, 'Nah I'm just not inspired and I'll wait till I feel it."
