London's RAK Studios have announced a new 7" initiative to help showcase emerging talent - and promise limited edition singles from musical icons who have recorded there in the past.
The launch of the RAK Singles Club will give emerging artists the chance to record in RAK's facilities and work alongside the studio engineers and producers as well as release a limited edition 7" single in the studio's signature packaging.
RAK is the studio where Radiohead cut The Bends and also where David Bowie, Al Green, Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd came to record. Other musicians who have recently worked in the studio include Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood.
The first release from the Singles Club will come from Salford band Trojan Horse on 27th October, followed by Brighton's Beautiful Boy and real-life chocolate descendants, The Cadbury Sisters.
While the A-sides will be original songs, RAK have asked each artist to cover a song from the RAK catalogue. The first lineup will include versions of Steve Harley's 'Come Up And See Me (Make Me Smile)', Kim Wilde's 'Kids In America' and Cozy Powell's 'Dance With the Devil'.The first artists of the RAK Singles Club, Trojan Horse will see their 7", 'Meat Eater'/'Dance With The Devil' released on the 27 October.
