DJ Scott Mills has said that older Radio 1 listeners need to be told to switch over to Radio 2.
Mills began his career at Radio 1 in 1998 as the host of the Early Breakfast Show, before working his way up to Drivetime Host. Since 2012, he has hosted the show's weekday afternoon slot.
Speaking to the Metro, as reported by Digital Spy, the DJ was asked if it's rude to tell older listeners they should listen to Radio 2 instead. He replied: "No. Radio 2 is the perfect radio station for them and sometimes people just need to be told."
He continued, "The main part of my job is talking about things young people are talking about - as long as you're current and love the music, you're on to a winner.
"When you aren't talking about things young people like or you don't care about it, that's the time to quit or you'll be quitted."
On a potential move to Radio 2 in the future, the 40-year-old said: "I would love to work there. The bosses at Radio 1 seem to be happy with me. I can't see my act working on Radio 2 now but there would be a time when it will fit."
In 2012, Mills signed on for three more years at Radio 1, but admitted that after that time he will "probably be too old for it."
