U2 are set to appear on Later... with Jools Holland later this month to play live tracks from Songs Of Innoncence.

The band are set to appear on 21 October alongside Sam Smith, Interpol and Zola Jesus. It has been a long standing ambition of Holland himself to have U2 on the show, particularly after he teamed up with Bono in 2002 to a version of 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress' for Holland's album Small World Big Band Volume Two.

U2's booking continues a particularly strong run for the series which has seen performances from FKA Twigs, Jessie Ware, Alt J, Ryan Adams and Future Islands. The line-up for next week's show includes Sinead O'Connor, Labrinth and Rumer.

As well as promoting Songs Of Innocence, U2's Adam Clayton has said that the band have finished '70 per cent' of their next album. In this month's Q Magazine Clayton reveals that the band are nearing completion of their 14th studio album, set to be titled 'Songs of Experience', following the conventions of both William Blake and David Axelrod.

Songs of Innocence was previously released at the beginning of September after being announced at an Apple Keynote, however by making the record appear on people's iTunes without their consent it was revealed it wouldn't qualify for the award until it went onsale physically.

Bono recently expressed his interest to play venues such as The O2 Arena in London when the band get around to touring the album, however no dates have been announced yet.
