The BMI London Awards took place last night (13 October), and Nile Rodgers took home the Song Of The Year award for Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky'.
The song is given to the most-performed song by UK or European writers in the BMI catalogue on U.S. radio and television over the past twelve months. The ubiquitous 'Get Lucky', beat out tracks penned by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding.
Though Rodgers is American, his co-writers, Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo are French, and thus the song is eligible for the award..
The track was released last year, and has since been certified 4x Platinum in the US, and 2x Platinum in the UK.

Elsewhere, Tim Rice received the BMI Icon Award, and Emeli Sande, Ellie Goulding and Avicii also went home with gongs.
