James Murphy announces album made from tennis data

James Murphy has officially announced his remix album made from tennis data, imaginatively titled Remixes Made With Tennis Data.

Created in collaboration with computing giant IBM, the former LCD Soundsystem frontman took the raw data from tennis matches in the US open, then used an algorithm to create over 400 hours of sound which was subsequently cut down into a series of remixes.

The full 12 track album will be available through IBM's official soundcloud on Friday (19 December), however a snippet of one track, titled 'Match 176' can be heard online now.

Hear 'Match 176' below:

Murphy also discussed his reasoning behind the project in an official video, check it out below:

Remixes Made With Tennis Data is released 19 December, and needless to say we're intrigued.
