Noel Gallagher has spoken out about the end of his brother Liam's band Beady Eye and declared that he would love to hear a solo album.
Speaking to this month's Q Magazine, Gallagher explained: “I’m very fucking sad about Beady Eye, because I know they really wanted to make it work. I wanted it to work for them. I was out with Gem Archer the other night. The vibe I’m getting is that it was a shock, although not completely surprising.”
In terms of what his brother should do next, Noel explained: “I’m amazed Liam has chucked it in, but he won’t stay out of the limelight for long. I think Liam should make a solo record – put his balls on the line, put his name up in lights and go for it."
While we wait for a caustic response from Liam, Noel's second solo album Chasing Yesterday is due for release on 2 March and will feature Johnny Marr. The full list of dates is below. Tickets are on sale now. Buy tickets safely and securely with Seatwave.

Recently Noel also revealed that there are a huge number of Oasis songs that have yet to be released. Speaking to John Wilson as part of Radio 4's Mastertapes Noel said: "I've had a stockpile of songs since 1993. I've never written for a specific project, I've never been in the studio with less than 30 songs. I've just recorded an album, but I've still got another 30 songs."
He continued, "We were using five, but I was still writing 15, 20 songs, so there's loads of stuff left over from those days. Albums and albums worth of material. Because you move so fast as a writer, and you can only really do ten songs on an album at a time, lots get left behind."
It's not quite clear whether these superfluous songs were ever actually recorded, or merely remained in the written stages.
