Rock behemoths AC/DC, Wembley headliner Ed Sheeran, country star Eric Church and pop fembot Ariana Grande will join Madonna in performing at this year's Grammy Awards.
As previously reported, the 57th Grammy will take place on 8 February at LA's Staple Center and will see Madonna's fifth performance at the awards ceremony, after she joined Mackle more and Ryan Lewis on stage in 2014. Organisers announced the news early this morning after Madge herself confirmed her appearance on instagram on Monday night.
AC/DC and Ed Sheeran have also graced the Grammys stage before, but it will be Grande and Church's first appearance at the event. Both are nominated for multiple awards this year.
For AC/DC there is the added complication of plans regarding the level of involvement of drummer Phil Rudd, who will be appearing in court on 10 February on charges of drug possession. “I’m going back to work with AC/DC and I don’t care who likes it or who doesn’t,” he told New Zealand’s One News in December. “I want my job back and I want my reputation back.”
When asked about Rudd's status in the band, AC/DC have not made a clear decision as yet. Angus Young went on to explain the difficult position they find themselves in. "We had a few issues before with him, even when we were recording it was hard even to get to him to do the recording," he said. "And then he was supposed to show up to do promos with us, to do video shoots and a few shoots and a few other things, and he never showed up for that either. So, at this stage, it’s a pretty tough call for us.”
