The father of Dave Brockie, now-deceased lead singer of thrash metal band GWAR, has sued surviving members of the band amid accusations that they stole his cremated remains.
As NBC reports, Dave Brockie died of a heroin overdose in March 2014, and after a viking send-off in which his sci-fi stage costume was set on fire, his father William Brockie is left only with 'a small fraction of his son's ashes which were delivered in a used plastic bag with Discover credit card logo on it,' the lawsuit declares.
Mr Brockie seeks $1 million in reparations from the band for stolen bass guitars, artwork, and the ashes themselves. "Immediately after Dave Brockie's death, the remaining active members of GWAR ... set out on a course of action to capitalize on the death of Dave Brockie," the lawsuit reads.
Gwar released the 13th album in their mythological narrative in 2013 and marked their 30th anniversary last year with cult celebration. Neither the band nor their management, Slave Pit Inc., who will also appear as defendants, has yet issued a statement.
