Robin Thicke has split from his wife Paula Patton, following his rise to becoming one of the most controversial figures in modern pop music.
The US singer found international superstardom in 2013 with his hit single 'Blurred Lines', which was as famous for its controversial lyrics and x-rated video as it was the huge number of copies it sold. The singer was later involved in a number of female-related scandals (not least being twerked upon by Miley Cyrus at the 2013 MTV VMAs). His relationship with actress Patton has now collapsed.
"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," say the couple in a mutual statement.
Thicke has prompted huge responses from women's rights groups in the past year, with 'Blurred Lines' parody videos appearing online, and a play based on the hit opening in London, based on the gender politics in his hit single. However, despite the controversy, 'Blurred Lines was the biggest selling single of 2013, proving there's no such thing as bad press.
