16 June, 2014: Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme performed a special acoustic solo show at London's Royal Festival Hall - under the invitation of friend and collaborator James Lavelle of UNKLE, who is curating this year's Meltdown Festival. Check out our exclusive photos of Homme with special guests Mark Lanegan and Troy Van Leeuwen here.
During a set packed with QOTSA classics and covers, Homme unveiled new track 'Victims Of Circumstance' - a dark, brooding and menacing number in a similar vein to 'Mosquito Song' and the slower laments on ...Like Clockwork. It sounds pretty awesome acoustic, but the build-up and multiple riffs would lend itself well to a full-band sound.
Josh Homme played:
Long Slow Goodbye (Queens of the Stone Age song)
Memories Are Made of This (Dean Martin cover)
Villains of Circumstance (New Song, first time played live)
Dark as a Dungeon (Johnny Cash cover)
Mosquito Song (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
I Never Came (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
One Hundred Days (Mark Lanegan cover) (with Mark Lanegan)
Hangin' Tree (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Mark Lanegan)
Bad Boy (Marty Wilde cover) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
The Vampyre of Time and Memory (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
Kalopsia (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
Into the Hollow (Queens of the Stone Age song) (with Troy Van Leeuwen)
Homme has previously hinted that the next QOTSA album could be coming sooner rather than later, saying that he has material written, studio plans for the Autumn and would like to spend a lot less longer on the record than the six years it took to make ...Like Clockwork.
Meanwhile, Queens Of The Stone Age will be returning to the UK to headline Reading And Leeds festival alongside Paramore, Arctic Monkeys and more this summer. For more information visit Gigwise tickets.
