Sinead O'Connor wants to give advice to Lana Del Rey

Sinéad O'Connor has spoken out about how she gas tried to get in touch with Lana Del Rey in order to give her advice.
In a new interview with The Guardian, the Irish singer-songwriter said that she has yet to hear from the Ultraviolence hitmaker, following on from Del Rey's controversial statement that she "wishes she was dead already."
Guardian journalist Tim Jonze asks O'Connor whether her efforts to talk to Del Rey and other popstars, in order to give advice, are done out of motherliness to which O'Connor replies that she is not sure.
"I guess I give a shit about people is all," said O'Connor. "And I don't know if I'm even old enough to be Britney Spears's mother, I hope I'm not. It's more that when you've been through grievous things yourself, and you see it happening to other people, you just want to snuggle them. It's the same if I saw a stranger crying in the street, I would want to go over and snuggle them because I know what it's like to cry on the street.
"I think that's the same for most people - we have empathy because we've been through shit ourselves."
As well as Lana, Britney and Miley, O'Connor also mentioned Justin Bieber being another artist that O'Connor feels uncomfortable about. Speaking on the teen sensation, O'Connor stated: "I don't think it's appropriate to start sexualising an artist like Justin Bieber at 15-16 years of age - he's too young to know the decision he's making."
Yet the always contentious artist revealed that her concerns for those younger than her who are affected by popular culture extend further than fellow popstars. When discussing a potential link between recent abuse scandals, porn culture and pop music being sexualised, O'Connor confirms that there is a link between these things: "They were selling fucking pole-dancing kits at Tesco, you can get g-strings for kids... you can't be creating a society where little boys or girls are walking around with their arses hanging out. It's very dangerous, it's why we have trafficking."
Set to reveal more out-spoken opinions on her upcoming tenth full-length album, 'I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss' is planned for release on 11 August 2014.
