Continuing her rollercoaster year of success, Lorde has been named as the sole music supervisor for the upcoming Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay Part 1.
Not only will the 17-year-old global phenomenon be recording the film's lead single, but she'll also be in charge of directing the whole soundtrack.
Having already become an international sensation with smash ht single 'Royals' and debut album Pure Heroine, she added that she was 'so pleased and proud' to be such a key part of the project, and working along director Francis Lawrence.
"I sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we ... were trying to accomplish with the film," said Lawrence in a statement.
"Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only had enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack."
Previous Hunger Games soundtracks have included original songs by the likes of Sia, The Weeknd, Coldplay, Patti Smith, Arcade Fire and many more. We look forward to seeing what Lorde brings to the table.
