With one half of the duo that plays ‘keytar’ and boasts of their cross genre and unplaceable style, Shy Child either present a musical banquet or an audio nightmare. ‘Drop The Phone’ has a dancehall style that is not heard in many mainstream tracks, with a smattering of indie yelp, electro synths and the occasional cowbell. ‘Pressure To Come’ is initially reminiscent of The Klaxons with their warped alarm sounds, but this has a depth and arrangement that is darker and hypnotic. Like a more military version of M.I.A, Shy Child have definitely presented something that is definitely alternative, and is nowhere near in danger of being over played on a dancefloor.

Infact, ‘Noise Won’t Stop’ presents itself in a style that is easy to grasp, yet is, as their press say, incongruent to any type of music that would be played on any night out. Experimental yet rhythmic, tracks such as ‘The Volume’ have a twisted Jean Michel Jarre feel with incessant lyrics. It is not lounge music; it has been created to be scrutinised.

There is a definite feel of music history in each of the tracks. The swirling keyboard sounds of ‘Astronaut’ would not be out of place on a Bowie album. It juts out wonderfully to any recent releases, a triumph against the many ‘spam bands’ that are causing a stink at the moment.

The mash of sounds goes on with everything featured from ska to heavy metal, to psychadelia to electro punk. Not the type of music that is easy to stomach but would be amazing at an event, Shy Child have a tireless quality and will keep on snapping away until their Duracell’s run out or they fall asleep.
