This weekend, many festival goers will be escaping the unbearable city heat in favour of the beautiful lake district for this year's Kendal Calling. And we will be joining them.
Awarded Best Event by Live UK Festival Awards for the past two years, this smaller, independent festival boasts the perfect summer line up with a mix of some of the best rising talent of 2013 and a diverse range of must-see headlining acts.
Kicking things off on the Friday are dance legends Basement Jaxx who are certain to set the crowd alight with their infectious feel good anthems. Continuing the friday night in style will be the hip hop legends Public Enemy who will be making an appearance as the festival's special guests. Other unmissible acts that day include soulful songster Willy Moon and Clean Bandit, the London four piece who have made brilliant impact with their genius blend of classical and electro music.

Saturday is a strong day for the rock and indie bands and will see Kendal Calling going old school with the main stage line up. The Charlatans, The Twang, ASH, and I am Kloot are all gracing the stage. Dutch Uncles will be supporting the long list of alternative brit rock bands.
Sunday will see Kendal Calling put on an incredible final day with indie legends Primal Scream closing the festival, a performance guaranteed to cast a euphoric live atmosphere over the crowds. Veteran bluesman Seasick Steve, legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, and indie favourites Mystery Jets will also be performing along with hot newcomers, Drenge and Kodaline.

As well as a line up boasting of some of the best established headlining acts, there are plenty of must see artists and bands who have made an impact on this year's music scence, many of which can be found playing on the Gigwise stage this weekend.
The tremendous London Grammar, who have rapidly stormed the music world with their hauntingly beautiful vocals and stripped back guitar rifts reminiscent of the XX. Gentle acoustic musician Nina Nesbitt, and this years chart success The 1975 will all be appearing on the stage, as well as the sensational Lucy Rose who is making a return to the festival this year.

The music will be carried well into the night in the Glow tent with some of the best DJ and dance scene talent, including Annie Mac's favourite dance producer duo Bondax, along with Fake Blood and hip hop dubstep group Foreign Beggars.
It's definitely a weekend for an exciting mix of old school favourites and some seriously unmissable rising talent at this year's Kendal Calling.
