Tidal has announced the launch of Tidal Discovery, a new platform designed to “actively engage in the marketing and promotion of new talent”.
The new section of Jay Z’s streaming service will serve as a place for subscribers to exclusively listen to and discover new artists. Tidal hopes that the platform will help bring these unsigned acts to a broader audience, while providing “the highest quality releases”.
The new artists and bands will be featured in monthly Tidal playlists. The streaming service will also, as a press release states, “actively engage in the marketing and promotion of new talent including staging a series of Discovery concerts across the country featuring some of the top streaming Discovery artists.”
Tidal Discovery is launching in partnership with Phonofile and Record Union, while other partners are expected to join.
Artists who join are able to select their preferred royalty structure. Those who wish to join can register at tidal.com/discovery, and users who would like to listen to the new artists can access Tidal Discovery by visiting listen.tidalhifi.com/discovery.
Yesterday, Jay Z announced that he will be playing a special ‘B-Sides’ concert in New York City, and that fans can win tickets if they join Tidal, create playlists and share them on Tidal. The concert will also be livestreaming via Tidal.
