The new album will feature collaborations with Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, and System Of A Down's Daron Malakian.
Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park's vocalist, guitarist and pianist, has described the album as a heavier offering than their previous work, as a response to the "passive" nature of new bands.
As quoted by NME, Shinoda said: "There are bands like Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire, who are both fine if you like that sort of thing, but then there are just hundreds of bands trying to be like them."
The Hunting Party is set for release on 16 June, the day after the band play their full 2000 album Hybrid Theory in full during their headline slot at Download festival.
