Ryan Adams has unexpectedly released a new three track EP, which features Johnny Depp on guitar.
The latest in a series of releases through the singer's own Pan-Am Records imprint, the No Shadow EP builds upon ground laid in Adams' critically acclaimed self titled album from 2014, and follows on from three EP's that he also put out last year.
Alongside the release, Adams has described how he came to work with Depp on the EP, explaining: "Johnny came rumbling into [Adams’ PaxAm Studios] one night with this riff and an idea of what it was about- a few hour later and one take on a 2-inch 24-track tape machine later we had No Shadow … typed up on my manual typewriter and born and delivered from a simple riff we found on his iPhone. Johnny is a real songwriter and one of the deepest guitar players out there. That’s us singing and playing and playing all the parts ourselves with just our pal Marshal Vore on drums."
"The B-side is from the first night we met where all we did was play and didn’t say a word. This was the third thing we ever played together and there was no discussion. True rock and roll moments, as they should be, unfussy and delivered with all the heart and soul we had that night."

This isn't the first times Adams and Depp have collaborated, with the actor unexpectedly joining the singer on stage at various gigs in the past, most notably his comeback shows at London's Shepherds Bush Empire in September 2014.
