In a move that has surprised many, Thom Yorke has allowed his solo music, as well as that of Radiohead and Atoms For Peace, to be streamed across the new Apple Music service.
Apple Music launched yesterday (Tuesday 30 June, 2015), kicking off with Beats 1 Radio - helmed by Zane Lowe. When people logged on to the service, many were surprised to learn that Yorke, like fellow streaming critic Taylor Swift, had allowed his music to feature.
"Make no mistake new artists you discover on #Spotify will no get paid," tweeted Yorke at the time. "Meanwhile shareholders will shortly being rolling in it. Simples."
He continued: "'Your small meaningless rebellion is only hurting your fans... a drop in the bucket really' No we're standing up for our fellow musicians. For me 'In Rainbows' was a statement of trust. People still value new music... That's all we'd like from Spotify. Don't make us the target."
Yorke also famously 'leaked' solo LP Tomorrow's Modern Boxes on Bittorrent. Now, that along with previous solo LP, the Atoms For Peace album Amok and Radiohead's In Rainbows are now available on Apple Music. We're pretty certain he must have got a pretty sweet deal.
