Prince died of an opioid overdose, law enforcement officials have announced.
The singer died suddenly back in April at the age of 57, having been found dead in an elevator in his Paisley Park home.
There were since reports that he had a longstanding addiction to the painkiller Percocet, dating back to hip surgery he underwent in 2009.
Officials subsequently confirmed that he was found with opioid medication - and today (2 June) it was officially announced that he died of an opioid overdose, according to his autopsy results.
The news was revealed by a law-enforcement official, who spoke anonymously to the Associated Press.
