Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie was rushed to a Swiss hospital last night after falling off stage mid-show.

The iconic Glaswegian frontman was performing at Caribana Festival, in Crans-près-Céligny, Switzerland, when he slipped from the speaker stack and fell seven-foot into the crowd just 40 minutes into their set.

According to NME, the singer was stretchered away from the festival to hospital forcing the band to abandon their show.

He is said to have suffered minor back injuries and is now recovering.

The band's official Twitter page has responded this afternoon in reaction to the caring support from fans:

Primal Scream, who are touring in support of their highly acclaimed 11th studio album, Chaosmosis, are next scheduled to perform on 17 June at Spain's Azkena Rock Festival in Bilbao. Fingers crossed he makes the show. Check back on Gigwise for updates.
