Vevo, the music video platform and aspiring tastemakers, have released their top 10 new bands and artists to watch out for in 2016. These acts have all made waves in the alternative scene in 2015 even without having released one album. These artists are based both inside the UK and beyond, and are destined for greatness, see the full list below.

Labelled as 'The Ones to Watch', Vevo annually chooses ten artists that are on the right paths to becoming huge superstars. 'Ones to Watch' alumni include James Bay, Years & Years, Wolf Alice, Sam Smith, Ella Eyre, Jack Garrett and pretty much every artist who has ever rocked up on the BBC Sound Of longlist.

Speaking about the future of music, Vevo's Tom Connaughton has released a statement reading: "2016 will be an exciting time for new music. Artists are able to find their voice and audience at an earlier point through the internet. What that means is we’ve got a more interesting Ones To Watch group than ever before. The sounds and styles are diverse and we’re excited to get behind them and help connect them with our audience"

The list features Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, Brighton rockers Black Peaks, the next pop-writer Frances, the most enarmoring new band in the world right now, Hinds, Izzy Bizu, The Japanese House, Rejjie Snow, SG Lewis, Yungen and Tala.

Some of these artists feature on Gigwise's guide to 2016 in music. You'll find 50 amazing artists who are going to dominate the next year with their innovative and diverse sounds. It's a one-stop shop to get caught up with all the new music happenings of this year and all the budding new artists that are on the precipice of blowing up - check it out.

However, if you're more cynically minded, check out what Oasis boss, Alan McGee, had to say about the state of music right now. We'll give you a teaser, it goes something like this: "Today's acts have nothing to fucking say anymore".
