The Stone Roses have added a show at Leeds First Direct Arena on the 20 and 21 of June to their tour diary. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 9 December.
These two live shows are added to the already announced dates in Belfast, London and Glasgow.
The arena shows are massive but still relatively intimate compared to the stadium gigs in the other cities. The fact there's two dates should mean most fans of Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani, and Reni are rewarded but they will go quickly.
The sustained presence of The Stone Roses live since their trio of comeback shows at Heaton Park in 2012 is a welcome one. The band have written simply mesmerising music, and especially powerful is their masterpiece of a self-titled debut album with the likes of 'Waterfall', 'I am the Resurrection', and 'She Bangs The Drums' on it.
The Second Coming, their second - and so far only other album - is highly revered and contains some brilliant moments including the awesome 'Driving South' but it isn't as treasured as the first, which remains one of the most influential albums of all time.
The Stone Roses' first new music in over two decades arrived earlier this year in the form of 'All For One'. Led by a crisp and meandering guitar line by John Squire, the track is a propulsive and steady return for the band, seeing them stepping into the future with their best foot striving ever forwards - a festival-ready anthem and typically Roses call for free love.
They also released the seven minute epic 'The Beautiful Thing', a sprawling seven-minute epic with a loose, easy and baggy flow - running very much an early 90s spirit. Rhythm aside, it's full on Roses; loaded with self-referential lyrics playing on Ian Brown's messiah obsession and some scorching John Squire guitar work.
The band will hopefully have their long-awaited third album on the way very soon. Meanwhile here's their full UK tour dates. Check here for more information.
