Liam Gallagher has reportedly branded his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel a "sell-out" after he licensed 'Half The World Away' for the John Lewis Christmas advert. We're guessing the chances of the members teaming back up for a reunion aren't so high then - no matter how many classic songs and albums they rehash for department store ad campaigns.

Despite Noel Gallagher repeatedly bemoaning that rock 'n roll isn't what it used to be - "To me, it's about fucking utter gobshites just being fucking headcases" - it seems he put his hardcore stick-it-to-the-man lifestyle on hold when he licensed 'Half The World Away' to be covered by Aurora for the John Lewis Christmas advert.

The song, which was a 1994 B-side written and originally performed solely by Noel, was used as part of the department store's Man On The Moon ad campaign. We're all in favour of it - Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora is one of her hottest tips for 2016 - but it was somewhat surprising that Noel felt comfortable allowing his song to be used.

According to a source for The Daily Mirror, "When [Liam] first heard about it, he was ranting in his own local pub in Hampstead, north London, to just about anyone who’d listen. He accused Noel of being shameless for letting John Lewis use the track… He’s told mutual friends and family that Noel is a sell-out, and even joked that he won’t be welcome in the local pub near their mum’s house… not that he can enforce that!"

Meanwhile, former Oasis label boss Alan McGee also criticised the cover, telling Gigwise, "I hope they gave him a million quid but I thought actually it was rubbish."
