Edith Bowman is set to host the breakfast show of the newly relaunched Virgin Radio station - making her the UK's only female breakfast show host.
Virgin Radio has been off the air for eight years now, after its owners rebranded it as Absolute Radio back in 2008. Now though, it's set to return, thanks to a partnership between Virgin Radio International and UTV Media.
Its hosts will include former Big Brother winner and DJ Kate Lawler, TV personality Jamie East, Matt Richardson and Tim Cocker, who was replaced as breakfast show host of XFM by Chris Moyles after it was rebranded as Radio X last year.
The biggest new recruit is Edith Bowman, who has previously hosted shows on Radio 1 and 6 Music, and who will go up against Moyles as breakfast show host.
Despite the fact that Radio X described itself as "the first truly male-focused music and entertainment brand," Bowman defended the station's male-centric approach last year, saying, "I'm sure that over time as well we'll see more women being part of that schedule."
