The Stone Roses singer Ian Brown has escaped a driving band that he was facing from driving 37mph in a 30 zone in his Lexus.
Manchester Evenign News reports that the 53 year old Fools Gold star pleaded guilty to breaking the speed limit.
But he said it would be an 'inconvenience' if he was banned because it would make it difficult for him to deliver groceries to his father George, 81, and mother Jean, 79 in Timperley, Cheshire
Seems the court had a heart as according to Brown's lawyer Paul Reddy, Brown is the only person who can do these errands for his parents after his sister died from cancer last year. They rely on him because they're elderly and immobile. The extra three points from speeding brought his tlly to 12, they let him off because of the 'exceptional hardship' it would cause.
Brown also said he uses the car to visit his son in London and to rehearse in 'remote' locations in barn.
Chairman of the bench Pauline McArdle told Brown: "We have listened to the argument for exceptional hardship and taken it into consideration. We are not going to ban you on this occasion but you will have 12 points. We have taken into account innocent third parties and have also taken into account loss of income but that was not the priority."
"The argument for exceptional hardship cannot be put forward again, if you come up before the court again you cannot use this argument again and you will be banned from driving."
Ian Brown was nearly banned in 2011. He was clocked speeding at 105mph. He was given six points, and a fine. The reasons for not being banned were pretty much the same. Luckily they're still holding. Hopefully he's learned his lesson this time, though. Drive safe Mr. Brown.
