It feels like touching an electric fence with a fish

When elusive London-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Seramic, started working on the Bootsy Collins, who led James Brown's backing band, inspired cut 'Greg's Love' with his band, it's doubtful he expected the fortune that came next.

Remarkably their hero, who also played in Funkadelic, didn't remain a mystical figure and he actually contributed to the track. What a coup!

But upon hearing the instrumentation you start to understand why someone so legendary would even spend a minute. The jubilant vocals capture the feel of 70s funk to a T while the soundscape shows Seramic pushing modern production boundaries, and making something pretty inimitable. The daring combination of old school and new school are an intoxicating joy to behold.

Q & A with Seramic

What does the title of this track mean?

The song started from a bass line that Greg my bass player sent me which was inspired by Bootsy Collins. When we came up with the groove we just couldn’t stop dancing so we knew it had to be a party song, a celebration in finding something fresh and exciting like being in love for the second time. It's also about not taking yourself too seriously and letting go.

How would you describe the "feel" and theme of the song?

This is a multiple choice answer.

A. It feels like taking all your clothes off and running naked in the rain with all of your distant cousins watching

B. The theme to the party was mid 17th century and you go in spandex and rollerblades

C. It feels like touching an electric fence with a fish

D. The theme is Batman played on a sousaphone underwater

What was it like working with the producer?

I loved making this track with him, it’s always such a joy, we work together a lot and we have the best time.

What would you do differently if you could change anything about the recording?

I would turn up the Camel spitting around 2.50

I would have maybe re recorded the eagle flying over the great wall of china around 1.50
