Adele’s album 25 has has hit diamond status in less than a year.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) The singer’s third album reached Diamond status Thursday last week after selling 10 million copies in America alone. It was only released in November 2015 meaning 25 reached diamond in little over 10 months.
Adele received the 10X Platinum plaque on the final night of her six-show stint at Madison Square Garden.
Her single ‘Hello’ has played a huge part in leveraging the album for success by going seven times platinum and hit singles 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)' and 'When We Were Young,' were hugely influential.
This is the second time the singer has gone Diamond as her 2011 album, 21, reached the same lofty height in 2012. That took nearly two years to reach the 10 million mark though.

The singer joins Britney Spears, who achieved the same feat with 1999’s 'Baby One More Time and Oops I Did It Again in 2000, Mariah Carey, who also has two Diamond certified albums and Celine Dion. But considering the increased ways of getting music for free compared to the 90s and 00s, it makes it even more remarkable to have reached the figures she’s reached.
Meanwhile, Adele is up for five awards at this years European Music Awards, held in Rotterdam in November.
And her video to ‘Hello’ has reached 1.7 billion views. Just staggering.
