The 1975 have rescheduled their European tour dates which were cancelled yesterday due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. Although there is still no clarification on what these circumstances were, fears that the band cancelled their tour because of the BRIT awards have been quelled.
As promised, the dates have been rearranged within the 48-hour time period since their cancellation, with the band now embarking on their European tour in mid-June. Kicking off their tour in Aarhus, Denmark at the Northside Festival on 11 June and finishing in Milan, Italy at Fabrique on 29 June, the dates are fewer than the originally scheduled tour listing (which was due to begin in January) but the band’s label Dirty Hit have tweeted promising “original tickets will be honoured wherever possible”.
Yesterday The 1975 were also announced alongside Craig David, Tinie Tempah and Paul Weller as guests to play an intimate charity gig for the charity War Child on 21 February. Playing to a small crowd of 500 people, the show will take place the night before the annual BRIT awards at London’s, The 02.
The pop-rock band have been nominated for the BRIT awards in two categories for Best British Album and Best British Group and with the accolades they accumulated in 2016 (a second number one album, a Mercury prize nomination and a philharmonic live lounge which won them a BBC Music Award) it would be a shock to not see them win.
