While Donald Trump scraped the barrel in an attempt to round-up musicians to play his Inauguration concert, Bruce Springsteen - a long term supporter of Obama's - played a low-key farewell show at the White House.
The Boss reportedly played a 15-song acoustic show in the White House's East Room on January 12 for a mere 250 people - which included President Obama, the First Lady and White House staff.
According to a Backstreets report - in which one audience member documents their experience - the show was put on as a " thank you for current White House staff with a full eight years in the Obama Administration."
The lucky attendee - who sounds like a big fan of The Boss, having seen him live multiple occasions - described the evening as a complete one-off: “This one was a real personal thing, this thing for staff who sacrificed so much over the last eight years. It was a humble, quiet gesture from Bruce to say thanks to President Obama, the staff, and their families. No pomp, no ceremony, no press. Just the man, the guitar, and the songs.”
Apparently leaning more towards his politically-inspired material, the setlist included tracks such as 'Born In The USA', 'Tougher Than The Rest' and 'Dancing In The Dark' - coming to a close with 'Land of Hope and Dreams, before the Obama's joined Springsteen on stage.
Following the show, Obama thanked The Boss for the special performance: "He's been with us for some time now, performing his craft to show his support".
With Springsteen's E Street Band tribute act even pulling out of Trump's ceremony, we're pretty sure the performance will mark the last time Springsteen steps foot through the White House door.
