A New York judge has turned down US rap star Foxy Brown’s request to be freed from jail early in order to have an ear operation.
Brown had hoped to be allowed to travel to Los Angeles in order to have an electronic ear implant repaired.
However, State Supreme Court Justice Melissa Jackson ruled on Thursday (January 24th) that Brown’s year long sentence would not be cut short.
Representatives for Brown had argued that the singer faced “imminent harm to her hearing” if she wasn’t allowed access to have the implant repaired.
Prosecutors said at an earlier hearing, however, said that Brown could receive the treatment in New York instead of travelling to the specialist House Clinic.
The performer’s hearing problems were first revealed during a court appearance in 2004.
Brown was sentenced to jail in September 2007 for violating probation, reports AP.
