Red Hot Chili Peppers have been confirmed as headliners of this year's legendary Isle Of Wight Festival.
The band will be be joining Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris in topping the bill, headlining the Saturday (14 June) night of the event and marking their first UK festival appearance since 2007.
"To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors," said Red Hot Chili Peppers in a statement. "When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special."
Festival promoter John Giddings added: "Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!"
Biffy Clyro will headline the festival on Friday 13 June, 2014, while Calvin Harris will close the opening night of the festival. Biffy Clyro have risen through the ranks in 2013 to establish themselves as festival headliners, with bill-topping slots at Optimus Alive and Reading + Leeds - among others.
Also on the line-up for the Friday of the Isle Of Wight Festival are Rudimental, The 1975, Passenger and The Waterboys.
