Johnny Marr on The Libertines reunion: 'If it sounds good, do it'

Marr is up for reunions - if they can play well

Johnny Marr has said that he fully backs with the Libertines reunion - but only if they sound good.

In signature laidback fashion, the guitarist and singer expressed that the only thing that should determine whether a band should get back together is whether or not they're any good. Speaking at the last month's Ivor Novello's, Marr said that he wasn't too concerned about the politics of reunions, just the sound.

"Well if they're good then it's great innit," he said when quizzed on The Libertines reunion. "That's what it's about really. If they put on a good show and they play well and it sounds like really good music for an hour and 20 minutes then you don't need to overthink it."

"I don't really go in for analysis of this kind of thing really because it's not really my job. I'm a musician, plug in and play and if it sounds good then you've done a good job y'know. What it all means is for you guys really."

This whole being good to justify your reunion malarky, may worry Carl Barat however, who has expressed concerns that The Libertines will be bottled off stage.
