Tickets for Kasabian and The Who's upcoming UK arena tours went on sale today (Friday 4 July, 2014) - with both acts seeing a huge spike in demand, outstripping the nearest competitors of comedy legends Monty Python.
Glasto headliners Kasabian announced a huge run of dates following their victorious set at Worthy Farm last weekend, while rock icons The Who revealed that they'd be playing some of their final shows to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band this year.
The Who are winning the battle of the ‘60s’ idols, with demand for their upcoming reunion tour outstripping Monty Python by 3:1, according to the latest data from leading ticket website viagogo - who recordeda 213% spike in ticket searches for The Who (three times the demand currently being registered for Monty Python’s reunion shows, which kicked off in London earlier this week).
However, both are being outstripped by Glastonbury headliners Kasabian, who have shot to the top of viagogo’s demand league - with phenomenal 297% spike in searches for the 48:13 rockers.
A viagogo spokesperson commented: "We’re seeing the power of nostalgia driving ticket searches for The Who and Monty Python but, following their incredible set at Glastonbury last weekend, Kasabian definitely aren’t the Underdog in terms of demand.
"Now the hype has died down and the reviews are out, demand seems to have fallen for Monty Python, with tickets available on our site from as little as £15. Attention has turned from the comedy gods to the rock gods, with The Who attracting three times the number of searches on our site."
