Nile Rodgers announced on Twitter that he is now 42 months clear of cancer, just hours after performing at V Festival in Weston Park, Staffordshire.

Rodgers revealed that he gets checked for any signs of cancer every six months after being diagnosed with an "extremely aggressive form of cancer" over three years ago.

Rodger's revealed earlier this year in a blog post titled 'When Cancer Was Killing Me' that "my therapy was to make as much music as possible." He added that "It will be easy to see how the music and love of Night of the Proms filled me with life When Cancer Was Killing Me."

Rodgers shared the news hours after performing at V Festival with his band Chic, which included a surprise appearance from Sam Smith who performed Stay Together with the band.

Chic featuring Nile Rodgers are set to headline Bestival on Sunday 7 September. For tickets and more information visit here
