Ozzy Osbourne is set to recieve the Global Icon award at the 2014 MTV EMA awards in Glasgow.
The European ceremony will pay tribute to the 120 million records the singer has sold throughout his lengthy career as a metal icon. It will also highlight the continuing relevance of his legacy, stemming all the way back to the 60s and Black Sabbath.
"Ozzy’s impact on music and pop culture has been tremendous," said Bruce Gillmer, executive vice president of talent and music programming and events for Viacom. "For over four decades (and counting!) he’s entertained, influenced, inspired and sometimes shocked legions of die-hard fans around the globe. We’re thrilled and honoured to announce that this year’s MTV Global Icon will be Ozzy Osbourne!"

The ceremony, hosted by Nicki Minaj, will feature performances from Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande. It will take place at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow on Sunday 9 November at 9pm, and will be broadcast live across MTV's networks.
