Midweek charts show Taylor Swift on course for the No.1 spot

Taylor Swift is currently on course for a No.1 album with 1989 according to the midweek charts.

The album which was released on Monday 27 October has recieved rave reviews from critics and has already sold 60,000 copies. Currently that is more than the rest of the top five combined, including Ed Sheeran at No.2 with X, Sam Smith's in at No.3 with In The Lonely Hour, Led Zeppelin at No.4 four with IV (ironically) and Ben Howard comes in at No.5 with I Forgot Where We Were. 

Meanwhile new entries in the top 40 come from Annie Lennox with Nostalgia at No.6, Mallory Knox at No.13, Black Veil Brides at No.14, Yusuf Islam at No.18, Simon & Garfunkel at No.19, Devin Townsend Project at No.24, Rancid at No.31, The Twilight Sad at No.34 and Worship central at No.36.

As for the single charts, Ed Sheeran is thankfully close to knocking the all conquering 'All About That Bass' from the top with 'Thinking Out Loud'. 'Bump and Grind 2014' is at No.3 by Waze & Odyssey Vs. R Kelly, at No.4 is 'Bang Bang' by Jessie J. featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' is at No.5.
